I read a fair bit of non-fiction. But I always feel like I should be reading more. Or rather, I feel like I should read more books outside of my favourite subjects (a.k.a. the Tudors).
Which is why the 2022 non-fiction reader challenge appeals. Organised by Book’d Out the aim is to make non-fiction part of your reading life.
You set your goal by choosing the number of books you want to read and the categories you want to read from and then off you go, posting your reviews on the challenge’s main page to encourage others to read more non-fiction.
The goals are:
Nonfiction Nipper: Read & review 3 books, from any 3 listed categories
Nonfiction Nibbler: Read & review 6 books, from any 6 listed categories
Nonfiction Nosher: Read & review 12 books, one for each category
OR
Nonfiction Grazer: Read & review any nonfiction book. Set your own goal
The categories are:
1. Social History
2. Popular Science
3. Language
4. Medical Memoir
5. Climate/Weather
6. Celebrity
7. Reference
8. Geography
9. Linked to a podcast
10. Wild Animals
11. Economics
12. Published in 2022
Non-fiction books always take me longer to read than fiction books so I’m aiming for six books, two from Social History (because I can’t not read any history books), two celebrity (though I may have to stretch celebrity), and two published in 2022.
I’m quite excited to be starting on this. Now to decide what to read….

Good luck with the challenge!
