Book blogger hop: Scary movies (at least in my world)…

Halloween EditionIt’s being a while since I took part in a book blogger hop but, today, the urge struck and – unlike the last few weeks – the question was one I could answer with more than one sentence (one sentence always seems like such a waste of a post).

The other nice thing about this week, after writing three reviews back to back, is that it’s not about books.  It’s about movies…

Off the book topic – What is your favourite scary movie?

So, when it comes to scary movies I have to say I am a bit of wimp.  I think I want to be scared – but, when it comes down to it, I don’t really.  I blame my parents (who doesn’t?), who let me watch scary movies as a child, thinking because they were old and in black and white they were harmless.  How wrong they were!

It’s a toss-up between the two films that scared me most as a child – The Children of the Damned and Invasion of the Body Snatchers – either way, I still find myself watching with half an eye nowadays…

If you watch the trailers, feel free to laugh- I know they seem tame compared to what’s on offer nowadays but there you go – scarred for life!  My scare-ometer stops at teen horrors like Wrong Turn and The Grudge.

Anything above that, I spend too much time hiding behind a pillow asking my husband “is it over yet?” to know what is going on.  What about you – do you like scary movies..and, if so which ones?

Emma x

  1. I love scary movies, and have liked them for as long as I can remember, although I’m not sure I really ever saw anything scarier than Gremlins before I was a teenager.

    Have a great weekend.

    1. You are braver than me. I have a friend who is the same way…she likes the scare!

  2. Great picks!!

    1. Thank you 😜

  3. I do the one eyed thing too. I don’t know why watching the movie through my fingers makes me feel safer but it somehow does! I don’t think I’ve seen any of the black and white horror movies but I could definitely see how they wouldn’t be harmless!

    1. It does make them seem less scary I agree. The music too – if I’m really frightened I block my ears.

    1. It was under the couch when I was little so at least I’ve gotten a bit braver?

  4. I like the more classic type scary ones too! 🙂

    1. I’m so not very good with gore!

  5. I did like Village of the Damned but far preferred the book – The Midwich Cuckoos – have you read it?

  6. Some interesting picks!

  7. I used to love scary movies, just haven’t really watched them in a while. I haven’t seen either of your choices though. Have a great weekend!

  8. Oh I LOVE horror films! Zombies, slashers, monsters I love them all! I love things like Saw, Scream, Halloween, Resident Evil…big fan of horror books too!

Let me know what you're thinking...
