Once again, I’m joining in with Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene of Reading Reality for Stacking Shelves, where you share the real and virtual books you have added to your shelves in the last week.
Thankfully, this week was a lot calmer than last and I am back in my comfort zone of three to four books a week max. being added to the shelves. As always there is a mix of bought, loaned and review copies.
The review copy is from netgalley but an outstanding request so I’ve managed to stick to my self-imposed ban – well for this week at least…
Shortly after Christmas, a message arrives at Sophie’s house, scrawled across her own round robin newsletter: He’s Going To Leave You. Let’s See How Smug You Are Then, You Stupid Bitch. Perhaps she should ignore it, but she ignored the last one. And the one before that. Now it’s time to take action.
But when a simple plan to identify and confront the other woman goes drastically and violently wrong, Sophie must go to extreme lengths to keep her life and her family together-while never letting on her devastating secret.
Release date: 5th October, 2017 (hardback – already available as ebook)
I am looking forward to this after reading other books by Laura Wilson, though the 3 out of 5 stars on goodreads does make me a little nervous.
The library loan this week was by an author I feel I should have read but never have. This was the only one on the shelf so even though I thought I might read Big Little Lies, it’s Truly Madly Guilty that is gracing my shelf.
Despite their differences, Erika and Clementine have been best friends since they were children. So when Erika needs help, Clementine should be the obvious person to turn to. Or so you’d think.
For Clementine, as a mother of a two desperately trying to practise for the audition of a lifetime, the last thing she needs is Erika asking for something, again.
But the barbecue should be the perfect way to forget their problems for a while. Especially when their hosts, Vid and Tiffany, are only too happy to distract them.Which is how it all spirals out of control…
Release date: July 28th, 2016
The bought was another author I’ve enjoyed reading, Sibel Hodge and her book Untouchable.
A Conspiracy. A cover-up. And a whistle-blower… You think you know who to trust? You’re wrong. Untouchable is a chillingly dark psychological thriller from the No 1 Bestselling Author of Look Behind You.
It’s Maya and Jamie’s anniversary, and she waits with excitement for him to return home for a celebratory dinner. There’s a knock at the door. It’s the police. Jamie has been found hanging in a local wood.
His death is ruled a suicide, but Maya doesn’t believe Jamie would take his own life. Something isn’t right. Someone has broken into her house. Someone is watching her. And someone has gone to great lengths to cover up what Jamie was doing before he died.
Maya’s grief turns to suspicion, and as she begins to investigate the weeks leading up to Jamie’s death, her trail leads her to a place known as “The Big House” and the horrific secrets within. Secrets people will stop at nothing to keep hidden. People linked to the heart of the Establishment who think they’re untouchable.
Now Maya has a dangerous decision to make. How far is she prepared to go to reveal the truth?

And that’s it for me this week. What about you? What have you added to the shelves?
