Again this week, I’m joining in with Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer‘s book blogger hop again this week, where they post a question which you and other bloggers answer, hopping from blog to blog to see people’s answers. This week, the question is…
You come across an old library that has the one book you’ve been searching for for years, but the library happens to be haunted by ghosts. Would you go into the library to find the book?
And the answer is yes because I don’t think I actually believe in ghosts. Or, if I do (because the jury is not completely 100% in yet) I don’t think they can harm me. Plus, if I really want a book, I have to go get it.
I’m fairly confident in my answer because I have done a few ghost walks and ghost hunts in my time – I have a friend who does them for a local charity – and I’ve always been the one that volunteers to go down the dark corridor or up the creaking stairs. I do jump, but normally because someone else does, starting a chain reaction. I always figure that what you don’t let yourself see if worse than what you possibly can (it’s normally just a shadow I hate to say).
There is something fun about the being scared, the entering of the unknown, and it would be the same in the library. There is also something about facing your fears, which I’m a big believer in. I try not to turn away from a challenge unless I’m likely to injure myself (in which case I’m a complete coward) and I don’t think you can get injured on a ghost walk – at least I haven’t so far.
The only downside to this question though is, nowadays, is there a book I couldn’t find on the internet, avoiding the whole situation? What do you think? Would you entered a haunted library?
Emma
I would totally enter and get the book! 🙂

You’re a brave person, Emma, just like Billy! I’d NEVER go into a haunted library to get a book! But then, perhaps I would if someone were with me. Who knows?
Ghost walks do sound interesting, though. Of course, the bigger the group going on this tour, the better! I don’t enjoy being scared, though.
Thanks for sharing!! TGIF!! 🙂

I know the scary factor is the thing for ghost walks but the more people, like you say, the more fun. There is always a lot of laughing.

I can’t resist being scared in a “makes me go jump” kind of way.

Great answer, and love how you expanded upon it. You’re quite right about our times meaning you could just easily find it on the internet, but despite that, I’d also enter too! I’m not normally one for liking the unknown, but I’m very much fascinated by ghosts and that kind of unknown. I do believe in ghosts, but I don’t think of them in a harmful manner.
I’ve never done a ghost walk, but they sound like a lot of fun. I don’t think I’d be the one volunteering though – brave!

I am just not sure I’m convinced something I can’t see can hurt me. Plus in the Gran scheme of things I believe more people are good than bad so surely more spirits would be good with the law of averages?
