Book Blogger Hop: Time Devoted to Blogs and Books

Iimaget’s been a while since I joined in with Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer‘s book blogger hop. Each week they post a question which you and other bloggers answer. This week, the question is…

How much of your day is devoted to your blog, and how much is devoted to reading?

For me, reading always wins out. I read every day, usually on an evening or when I’m travelling for work. If I’m travelling in the car, it’s an audiobook (which I am slowly getting a grip of).

I also spend quite a bit of time reading other people’s blogs – not just book blogs – though some days I don’t have time. I don’t make time every day to blog either, though I always start the week with good intentions and occasionally manage to schedule in advance. I enjoy blogging but it’s a hobby and so I do it when it feels right.

What about you, what takes up the time – blogging or books?

  1. Hello Emma. A lot of times, no part of my day is devoted to blogging but every day includes reading, and reading always leads to blogging. Eventually. Of course, most of my day is usually devoted to going to work and doing my job. I’d love to blog and read all day every day but unfortunately I gotta pay the bills. I need to check out Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.

    • Work is the killer…it seems to rule my world some weeks and I blog less at those times. This week I’ve blogged every day because I haven’t been travelling. It won’t last 😕

    • I felt that way at first then I realised I was slightly obsessed and wanted to make my blog perfect. I don’t have the skills to to be honest and so I decided to just go with the flow and not worry. With audiobooks I find the narrator is the key and the wrong one makes me turn off straight away…for the long journeys I’ve been taking for work though they are becoming essential!

  2. Thank you! It’s a hobby for me too….but a fun one. I can’t always find the time to blog….I am hit and miss; everyday for 5 days in a row and then a week with nothing. An undependable blogger–that’s me.

  3. Probably about 50-50 for me, if we’re including reading other people’s blogs as part of blogging. I love blogging but there’s no doubt it’s hugely time-consuming and can begin to feel like a job if we’re not careful…

    • I found that when I first started. I became consumed and it stopped being fun pretty quickly. It’s also because I struggle with work life balance. Now I just try and enjoy. Reading other people’s blogs is much more relaxing than writing my own!

  4. You know, I actually envy you! Lol. You are disciplined enough to give more time to reading, which, after all, is the primary purpose of bookworms! So CONGRATS to you!!

I wish I could balance my blogging and reading better, so as to give more time to reading. Somehow, it doesn’t quite work out that way….. I spend much more time blogging than I do reading, even when I don’t blog every day. Of course, I do have other activities to attend to, such as work. Lol.

I really need to do something about reading more!

Thanks for sharing! Hope you’re having a GREAT Saturday!! 🙂

    • Blogging is so addictive though it’s hard to not spend time on it. I think for me it’s also about turning off my computer as I spend all day staring at a screen for work … It’s harder to work on your blog from an iPad. 😄
