A bit of a late weekly round-up from me this week because we’ve been out and about all day enjoying the sunshine and the first day of Spring. It has been a glorious day to start the season and long may it continue. It’s also been a pretty good week for me, another where I haven’t had to travel much and got to sleep a lot more than I have of late.
Reading wise, I finished Cinderella Girl which I picked up at the library last week and am almost done with Her Mother’s Shadow (from my Tuesday Intro post). I thought I might read more but I struggled getting into both, though enjoyed them both in the end. I have a feeling that the reviews will be more positive overall than those I posted this week.
The Thirty-Nine Steps was my first Classic Club read for a while and disappointing, mainly because I thought it would be a lot more like the film than it was. I spent most of the book thinking “that’s not right” when – having come first – it obviously was. I enjoyed Here We Lie a lot more but fell short of loving it because of a few slow places and a lack of character development. A shame really because it was a good story.
Book wise I managed to snag a review copy of Non One Knows by J T Ellison which I read good reviews of at Cleopatra Loves Books and Rainy Days and Mondays and am looking forward to reading. I’ve also gotten Go Set a Watchman from the library – one I feel I should read rather than really want to so may go back unread but we’ll see. What about you, what are you reading this week?

This week, I’m linking in with Kimba at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer and her Sunday Post and with (a little early) Katherine at Book Date for It’s Monday, What Are you Reading? Head over to see what other bloggers have read, written about or just added to their shelves.
Thanks for the mention of my review of No One Knows….and I am eager to find out more about Here We Lie. I haven’t yet read this author, but I’m definitely curious. Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

Glad you’re enjoying the first day of spring! It’s nice here too- finally! And I know what you mean about seeing a movie first- sometimes it feels definitive even if the book was really there first.
Here We Lie looks interesting based on that tagline- I always enjoy stuff like that. 🙂

I wish I’d never read Watchman. I say to take it back unread.

Really? I must admit I’m not enthused.

I noticed a couple of people comment on Spring beginning now. I thought Spring (or Autumn here in Oz) began on 1 March, but is it later in the month? (Forgive my ignorance on that… it’s the sort of thing I could go my life without knowing if someone didn’t clear it up for me. I think I live in a bubble sometimes!)
Glad all is well with you…
