So I’m back from my holidays and – as with all good holidays – it went too fast. At the same time, I feel like I was away long enough to completely relax. I feel renewed and refreshed. I also took a holiday from the Internet. I didn’t visit a blog, write a post or even read the news…it felt strange to be disconnected but also pretty good to not be distracted by my phone or iPad. I got to do a fair bit of reading as well which I hope to write reviews of this week…
Nora hasn’t seen Clare for ten years. Not since Nora walked out of school one day and never went back. Until, out of the blue, an invitation to Clare’s bachelorette party arrives. Is this a chance for Nora to finally put her past behind her. But something goes wrong. Very wrong. Some things can’t stay secret for ever.
She could have stopped an awful crime. She could have saved a life. She tried to forget about it. But now, the truth is out. Faith Saunders is the perfect wife, mother and sister – loved and admired by all who know her. One night will change everything. As she drives home in the pouring rain, a dishevelled young woman appears out of nowhere, pleading for help. The isolated stretch of road is dark, and with her four-year-old daughter Maggie asleep in the backseat, Faith refuses to let the stranger in. What she sees next will haunt her forever.
On 24th November Yasmin and her deaf daughter Ruby arrived in Alaska. Within hours they were driving alone across a frozen wilderness. Where nothing grows Where no one lives. Where tears freeze And night will last for another 54 days. They are looking for Ruby’s father. Travelling deeper into a silent land. They still cannot find him. And someone is watching them in the dark.
And that about sums up my week. Sun, sea, Sangria and sleep. How was yours?

This week, I’m linking in with Kimba at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer and her Sunday Post and with (a little early) Katherine at Book Date for It’s Monday, What Are you Reading? Head over to see what other bloggers have read, written about or just added to their shelves.
Holidays are the best…but I am usually glad to be in my own home again.
Enjoy your new books…I have read two other books by Rosamund Lupton, so I don’t know why I haven’t grabbed this one yet. Thanks for sharing. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

It was nice to be back in my own bed. Still would be nice to have the sunshine though. I have read one other Lupton but heard mixed reviews of the quality of silence. I enjoyed it though, despite a slightly unrealistic ending.

Sounds like you had a nice holiday… and yes they always go by too fast. I like the sound of In A Dark Dark Wood- looks like a nice tense read. 🙂 First time I’ve seen that one, I’m adding that to my watchlist. I’m kinda liking thrillers more these days…

Thrillers are one of my “comfort zone” genres. In a dark dark wood is definitely worth reading. I haven’t read a bad review yet.

It was lovely. I think because I spend so much time on a computer and online for work it felt nice to not log into anything (plus it would have cost a fortune as we were abroad…definitely helped!)
