Morning and hello from my first weekly update since the end of November…I really am a slacker! This week has been quite a good one for me, though I only posted twice – review of The Sisters by Claire Douglas which I enjoyed but have to say didn’t seem anywhere as good in hindsight and after reading Tina Seskis’ One Step Too Far. The problem was there were too many comparisons to make – both involved twins, secrets and lies and people running away from their past.
Also this week, my horrid, horrid, cold has gone and work has finally plateaued, so whilst I’m busy it’s no longer insane. I feel like I can breathe – and just in time too because we are due to go on holiday next week….7 days of sun, sea and sand – I can’t wait! It will be nice to get away with my family and also from the icky weather.
I’ve already got a fully loaded kindle and managed to snag a free months trial on an app called Magster so have lots of magazines to read too. Life couldn’t be better really. If I can focus for long enough before we got I am going to try reading one of the two books I bought this week, both of which I’ve heard good things about….

In a Dark Dark Wood sounds interesting. I’ve read Disclaimer and enjoyed it. Didn’t love it, but enjoyed it.

I wish I could remember where I read the reviews of both…Disclaimer doe seem good so far but in I wonder if it will be another where the secret lets it down because it isn’t that bad?

Your get-away sounds wonderful! What could be better? I enjoyed One Step Too Far, but I wasn’t reading a similar book at the time.
Sometimes stories of escape from the past, missing children, etc., seem to proliferate and make it hard to truly enjoy them.

I am counting the sleeps! I do seem to be reading in themes at the moment. Not sure how it happens as I tend not to read the blurbs before I pick up a book (once it’s made it to the shelf!)

Disclaimer was one of my top favorite books from last year. Loved it. I have In a Dark, Dark Wood to read, hopefully soon. Glad you’re feeling better!

Good your work has eased off a little and I do hope you enjoy your holiday! I loved both In a Dark, Dark Wood and Disclaimer and I do hope you do too. Disclaimer was a book I recommended to loads of people last year and they all enjoyed it.
